As a man, although I am not a supporter of the statue, I don't
feel that signing the petition would do any good. The signing of
a petition by a percieved enemy would only further sentiments of
oppression as would "fighting fire with fire". I think that this
is something that women have to sort out. The petition would
have much more power if it did not have a single male signature
on it. So Candace, I suggest to you circulating a petition of
women opposed to the statue if you indeed consider this a task
worthy of your time and effort to be more productive than
circulating a random petition which could get into the hands of
male batterers and rapists alike.
So please do continue your representation of men towards the more
agressive feminists, but understand that anything a man opposed
to their extreme views may have to say is about as usefull as a
Jew trying to express the plight of his or her people to Hitler.

First off - I disagree that the signatures of males on a petition would hinder
any cause.
Secondly, I have agreed to support Aubrey who has initiated the cause.

Seems to me I remember (if story being accurate) a petition signed by 100,000
women who were attempting to fight GST being put on sanitary napkins ........
and nothing being done about it either.

Either way - worth trying I guess ........... also seems to me that it is who
you know ....... connections.
