APPOINTMENT OF A SENIOR MANAGER – TRADE PROMOTION OF THE NCE TO
ENHANCE SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE CHAMBER TO MEMBER COMPANIES

The Chamber is pleased to inform members that Mr Shiham Marikar has
been appointed as Senior Manager – Trade Promotion of the Chamber
with effect from 1st June 2011.

The Council of the Chamber has from time to time urged the Chamber to
organize both inward and outward Trade Delegations to promote exports
from Sri Lanka and also participate in Trade Fairs which are
beneficial to member exporters of the Chamber with a view to
particularly exploit opportunities in emerging markets.

Mr Marikar, who has wide experience related to this field and contacts
in markets particularly in the Middle Eastern and Asian Region was
recruited by the Chamber to achieve the above objective.

He has already initiated proactive measures to collect relevant
information from member companies of the Chamber and has also laid the
ground work to participate in selected Trade Fairs, which are
considered beneficial in relation to specific product sectors.

In this regard, Mr Marikar will communicate shortly with the
membership with a view to implement the activities outlined above.

Member Companies of the Chamber are requested to extend their fullest
co-operation to the Chamber by providing information requested by Mr
Marikar to implement a meaningful work programme of benefit to member
exporters. He would also wish to personally interact with member
companies in this regard.

The Chamber trusts that all the member companies will actively
endeavour to make use of the services offered by the Chamber to its
members in the field of Trade promotion.
