Dalit Sarpanch (Mukhiya) was refrained from hoisting National Flag

The National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights (NCDHR) has received information that a Dalit 'Sarpanch' (village head) was refrained from hoisting National Flag on the occasion of Republic Day of India on 26 th January in village-Methwaliya. PS-Riwilganj. Dist- Chhapra.in Bihar state of India. The Case information is as follows:

Shivji manjhi is a Dalit village head (Sarpanch) of Methwaliya Panchayat and he went to Panchayat Bhawan (Building) on 26th January to hoist Nation Flag that time dominant caste person Muni Singh and his two friends stopped him and told him that he is a Dalit so he would not Flag. They beat him brutally and removed his clothes.

Dalits of the village had given the complaints to local police station but Police did not register their complaints. Due to fear these Dalit families flew away from their village and since then they are seeking justice but Govt. or media has not paid any heed.

National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights (NCDHR) is taking this case of atrocity on Dalit families very seriously and organizing a fact finding team. Soon this team will visit the incident village and will find the facts. NCDHR will get back with a Fact Finding report shortly.
