Your Turn: NCBS Board Seeks Comments On GOF Future
For the past 13 years, the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival has
been organized as a "no headliner" moderate-sized event featuring local
California bands. It has been consistently, but modestly, profitable.
The NCBS Board will consider suggestions and proposals to
*significantly change* the festival for 2007 and later years. The board
will begin consideration of this important matter at its August 8
meeting and will likely continue the debate at its September meeting.
Beginning in October, the GOF Committee will organize the 2007 event.
Among the proposals: adding headliners from California, adding
headliners from out of state, significantly reducing the number of
performing bands, limiting the number of 'tweener stage performances,
significantly increasing attendance, attracting more non-jamming fans,
and enhancing profitability. Other ideas will be entertained.
Alternatively, the Board could decide to make no major GOF changes.
Comments are invited from all NCBS members, from Good Old Fashioned
Festival attendees, and from other interested persons. A list of NCBS
board members and their e-mail addresses is at the end of this
newsletter. The public forum is the NCBS Message Board on the NCBS
website http://ncbs.us . Letters To The Editor for the September issue
of Bluegrass By The Bay magazine must be submitted by August 15 to Mary
Kennedy, BBB editor, kenn...@comcast.net . This is an important issue
and we would love to hear from you.

JEDD To Release New CD "JEDD Reckoning" This Sunday In Felton
JEDD -- America's favorite 100% non-bluegrass bluegrass band -- will
hold a record release party at Don Quixote's, 6275 Highway 9, Felton,
on Sunday, July 30 at 7:00pm, $8 adv./$10 door. "JEDD Reckoning" will
be available by the truckload, the case, or even one-by-one -- strictly
up to YOU, the loyal JEDD customer. Good Mexican food at DQ's is a good
reason to come early. Got a half hour or so? Well, yes, the band CAN
actually explain how they came up with the name, but do you really want
to know? Just go and enjoy the music. http://www.jeddmusic.com

International Bluegrass Music Museum -- Membership Drive On Now
The IBMM, in Owensboro, Kentucky, is the worldwide depositary for
serious bluegrass history and scholarship. It is also a major force
behind bluegrass education. A big part of its support comes from
California. You can join the Museum for $40. Your thank-you gift:
"Legends In Concert" 90 minute DVD, with Kenny Baker, Josh Graves,
Jesse McReynolds, Curly Seckler and many more!
http://www.bluegrass-museum.org . What your dues pay for: The IBMM's
Video History Team was in Morgan Hill this week, interviewing MaCrae
Brother and CBA founder Jake Quisenberry. Nuff said.
