The success of the Region 1 Select Team Program over the past years has been very evident. It is imperative that we continue to evolve this program and to support our best athletes and coaches in any way we can. The sense of camaraderie in Region 1 among the athletes and the coaching community is second to none in the country. We are the innovators and the Region to follow. This year we are attempting to found an annual camp that will significantly lower the financial cost of success to the families of athletes qualified onto The Select Team. The Region 1 Select Team- Elite Benefit Camp has the potential to raise enough money to cover the cost of sending our regional team kids to competitions, like we did in Chicago last month, and to significantly lower or eventually eliminate the registration fee to the Select Team Camp in September.
Tell your parents about this event! The financial burden of having a successful, high-level gymnast can be a huge burden on families. With this event we can all help to reduce that burden and to support our rising stars. The Elite Benefit Camp is being held May 11-13, 2012 (same weekend as Nationals) at Woodward West. The $265 registration fee covers all food, housing, training and activities. It is a price that can not be matched, anywhere. There is no requirement that coaches attend with their athletes but this is a great opportunity to raise the profile of some of your lower level coaches that will not be traveling to Nationals. We expect that the bulk of athletes will be level 4-8 and are looking for clinicians willing to get paid for a weekend of coaching. Get the coaches that aren't going to Nationals involved. There are a lot of great lower level coaches that could get some experience, exposure and extra money by coming with their kids.
