This is the posting I just shared and pinned in our group on Facebook - doing it again here as I know there are more than a few of you that don't do FB - no worries

"OK, seems it's time to generate a "Swarm Call List" for 2025. Just got our first call - so lets deal with that first

*****************************
Who can safely hive a swarm that's about 20' up a Spruce tree? Call me at the house (cell or land line) and I'll share location with one person to go get them
*****************************

Everyone else:

EMAIL me your info - don't reply on Facebook - send me an email at my wyoham gmail address. Send me your experience level and phone numbers. I need to know if you've done this before, are comfortable doing this or want to participate with someone else and learn the ropes

How this works is when I get a call, I start at the top of this list until someone answers and accepts the tasking. If for any reason you can't, I go to the next name on the list. If you're busy or don't want to take it, no worries. No one's name comes off the list.

Whoever accepts a tasking is in charge, it's up to them if they want a 'learner' with them or not - they get to pick their learner from the list

Also up to them if they keep the swarm or let their 'learner' take it after it's been hived.

When the next swarm call comes in, I just go to the first name AFTER whoever accepted the last one and the process continues. Idea is to give everyone as fair a shot as possible.

Only time I take one is if I've gone all the way through the list, come back to the first name I've called for that swarm and if NO ONE accepts, then I'll take it. I really don't want to - our yard is full already

Don't expect miracles. Last couple of seasons I only took 6 swarm calls and had close to 30 names on the list. It also seems there are others trying to help out and getting their numbers out and about - we often never even hear about those swarms

Good luck and happy bees and if you want this one - call me!"
