We were so encouraged by the number of people there and by the message that Tim shared with us. One of the our favorite takeaways from Keller's message is that we need to question people's answers and we need to answer people's questions. The below is a list of what some of those questions may consist of.
9 beliefs people have about Christianity:
- I can't believe in God because you can't prove him.
- Religion is science-denying.
- Religion is emotional immaturity.
- Religion leads to violence and exclusion.
- Religion is repressive and anti-sex.
- Religion is suppressive to gay people and trans people.
- Evil and suffering makes God impossible to believe in.
- The God of judgement is impossible to believe in.
- The Christian church is particularly an agent of injustice in history.
These are statements that are going to come up in our Christian walk and we need to be prepared to answer them. Let's take some time this week to start exploring the truth behind these thoughts and beliefs.
