to Federal Gun Free School Zones Act 1995 Amendment Coalition
An amendment to the Federal Gun Free School Zones Act of 1995 Title
18 U.S.C. 922(q) should do the following:
1. Extend the Title 18 U.S.C. 922(q)ii permit exemption to any carry
license which is recognized by the state in which the school is
located; not only those licenses physically issued by the state.
2. Provide an additional exemption to individuals who are allowed to
carry without a license under the laws of the state in which the
school is located.
3. Exempt law enforcement officers who qualify under the Federal Law
Enforcement Officer's Safety Act (LEOSA); off-duty law enforcement
officers do not currently have any exemption from the Federal Gun Free
School Zones Act of 1995.
4. Create an exemption which would allow an individual to discharge a
firearm as long as they are doing so in compliance with the laws of
the state in which the school is located.
