Hello North Country 350 Alliance community,

1.  Next Tuesday, January 17, 2017, in the Community Rm on the upper floor of the Potsdam Civic Center, (note chg of location, enter by police station), we will hold our monthly third Tuesday meeting at 6:30 pm.

At 7:30 pm we will have a presentation called "Is an Electric Vehicle (EV) in YOUR Future?" by Paul Dietershagen, from the Sierra Club.  EV technology is going through rapid transition, comparable to what's happened with LED technology, and is getting closer and closer to being price competitive with internal combustion engine vehicles.  These changes are expected to continue regardless of the change in U.S. leadership--good news.  Come and learn the latest information about EVs, rebates, and more from Paul, who now owns his second EV and has done extensive research on the topic.  Bring a friend!

The minutes from the last meeting and agenda for the upcoming meeting are attached.

2.  On Tuesday, January 24, 2017, NC 350 A is co-sponsoring a showing of National Geographic's Before the Flood, a moving film with Leonardo DiCaprio about climate change.  It is showing at 5:30 pm on the Clarkson University campus's student center, Multipurpose Rooms.  A discussion led by Alex French will follow the showing of the film.  Please read a description of the film here and please come!  Free!

3.  On Saturday, February 4, 2017, NC 350 A will sponsor an Outdoor and Sports Gear Sale at SUNY Potsdam, Maxcy Hall, Rm G104.  From 9 am to noon gear in good condition and current may be dropped off.  Buyers may come 12:30 pm to 3 pm.  Sellers return from 3-3:30 pm to pick up 75% of the proceeds from the sale of their gear and/or unsold gear.  NC 350 Al keeps 25%.

More details can be found by scrolling down at  http://northcountry350.org/upcomingevents/

4.  On the "Day Against Denial" on Jan. 9, NC 350 A representatives joined other activists in Albany to meet with U.S. Senate staff.  We took ~75 letters to each of our U.S. Senators from the North Country, expressing concern over four of Trump's nominations.  If you are concerned about the nominations, it is not too late to send your own letters. Letters and addresses can be downloaded at:

5.  Interested in joining a community of local activists?  Write the Power 21st District is a local group with a private Facebook page where local activists are convening and sharing ideas.  They are sponsoring a march in Canton today, Jan. 15, at 1 pm at the corner of Park and Main to save healthcare.

I am inspired by the way Americans are rising to be active.  It is what is sustaining me as the transition in power occurs this week.

Hope to see you Tuesday evening for either our meeting and/or the EV presentation!  Ginger
