Job Title: Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Location: WINSTON-SALEM, NC

Organization seeks Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer for it's Winston-Salem
location.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for researching,
planning, and developing new or improving existing applications, while
providing guidance and expertise in mechanical engineering, to design
moderately to highly complex electro-mechanical cabinet systems, and to
investigate, evaluate and development new application for existing
equipment and systems. Will utilize CAD, Pro/Engineer, to design and
develop electronic equipment enclosures for indoor, outdoor and power
requirements to satisfy internal and external customers. Will plan,
develop and implement assigned engineering projects, under the general
supervision of the Design Engineering Manager, in a manner consistent
with good engineering practices and policies of the company, including
the development of cabinet /configuration specifications in cooperation
with manufacturing engineering and product management and monitoring of
costs and progress of assigned projects by the critical deadlines
assigned (Performance, Cost, & Schedule tracking). Creates and updates
the documentation which defines products, including drawings,
specifications, BOM's and CAD databases in accordance with company
standard practices and proper engineering techniques.


The Engineer also reviews customer's standards, specifications and
theoretical principles to determine mechanical engineering requirements
to include schedules to ensure tasks are accomplished within estimated
financial limits and a review of mechanical and heat transfer parameters,
using analytical and investigating methods and techniques, to ensure
required specifications meet system needs. Works with Model Shop
personnel in the design fabrication and assembly of prototypes and
installation of complex mechanical and related electronic problems
equipment and systems. Researches and resolves product problems, cost
reduction efforts, and component nonconformity in coordination with
production and product management.


Other responsibilities include coordinating and performing verification
and validation testing of product and evaluating test results to ensure
compliance with tolerance limits of required specifications; reviewing,
writing and editing reports such as evaluation plans, test results,
technical specifications, etc., to provide recommendations, conclusions,
project planning/execution and other information; assuming responsibility
for BOM accuracy; developing new applications requiring appreciable
originality and ingenuity, and complex test procedures for equipment and
systems which are significantly different from existing designs;
responsible for keeping abreast of technical developments; performing
other duties as required.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and prior experience
(5+ years) in the engineering field.


REQUIRED/DESIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:


- Experience with CAD systems, specifically Pro/Engineer (Solid
Modeling)
- Basic understanding of mechanical reasoning, physics electronics,
metalworking (sheetmetal) and plastics.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Must be able to effectively interact with all personnel to provide
smooth workflow.
