Does anyone know where I can find good buildering and/or bouldering in the
Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area? I think there's probably one okay spot in
Umstead Park.

Oh, and can I goof around on the bottom floor of a building w/o getting
arrested?

Scott: About the only other bouldering near the Triangle is just outside of
Roxboro. There are some boulders on top of 'Hagar's Mountain' as I recall.
They are called the Roxboro Boulders in Tim Toula's guide. They are to the
southwest of town. I did some stuff (short lead climbs and bouldering) there
in the '70's when I was at NCSU. My roommate was from Roxboro and told me
about them. The rock is quartzite, similar to that at Moore's Wall and Hanging
Rock. The rock is also on private land and access may be touchy. I also used
to boulder at rock quarries in the area. There was one in Durham, off 15-501
near the Nature Museum that was wonderful.

Buildering - depends on the buidling. Discretion is the name of the game with
this. You are at the mercy of whatever law enforcement happens to be
responsible (internal security, city cop, county mounty, etc.) for the site.
Objective dangers can also intrude, like whether the officer is having a bad
day, feels like he has been insulted, wants to prove something, you get the
picture.

I hope this helps.
