All,

Just a couple of quick things.

First, does anybody have a topic they'd like to focus on for next month's meeting?

Next, I'll be out of town on the first Wednesday in December, which brings me to something I've wanted to talk about for a bit:

I don't "own" this group in any fashion; it was just something that I wanted to see happen in our area. I'm very open to other ideas for its structure or organization, and if anybody wanted to tackle any aspect of the club, that would be fine. I don't think of this as "my" club per se. So, if you wanted to have a get-together of some other kind, or propose a presentation of some kind, or any other activity ... please do! If anyone wants to handle meeting agendas or structure, go for it!

What I do want is for this to be a very inclusive club for all kinds of "solopreneurs" in our area, so that we can work with groups like city councils or the ERC on issues relevant to independent business owners, as well as share resources and help eachother out. So, to that end, this club belongs to each of you as much as anyone.

So, topics for next meeting? Does anybody want to lead it?

Thanks!

- Rob.

Howz about a Holiday Party!!?

Think about it, we're all solo, we have no in-house colleagues, co-workers or staff - unless you count - me, myself and I...

Since I've been a freelance artist and self employed - I've had to crash my friend's Christmas parties or finagle invites to ex-employers private parties.  I'm tapped out!! So howz about spreading the word to all self employed - freelance workers of Nevada County and creating a space for fun and social networking.  I'm down!!

Cheers!
Ariana

I got an invite today to Sally's Smart Shopper Party - I'll attach it. On December 4th. Open to all - at The Holiday Inn Express from 5:30 -10:00pm.  She says to bring your business cards and network. Could be fun? Sounds like what we had in mind - may as well...

Otherwise - a topic - besides PAR-TeY!

Contracts - client contractual agreements - graphics, web design, non-disclosure, media release, confidentiality - copyright ownership...  I have some kick-a*% software for the film industry - Movie Magic Contracts - but I'd like to understand more of how other freelancers work with agreements - including time frames and deadline agreements etc...
I get scattered when it comes to balancing every detail of sole proprietorship. Not only the creative and intellectual product - but the marketing, contracts, finances,etc..
