Hi all!

Just a few notes and reminders for tomorrow's meeting:

2 p.m., Broad Street Bistro (formerly Wisdom Cafe) in Nevada City. Call me at 575-0278 if you need anything.

We'll be brainstorming ideas for marketing your business over the internet. It looks like GreenSmith Consulting will be there; Paul is familiar with marketing strategies using online social services like Twitter (did I get that right Paul?). I'll have some perspectives on marketing uses "Web 2.0" sites, the importance of blogging, and so on.

Even if you have a locally-focused business, internet marketing can be a powerful tool for you. It will certainly add to your local status if you can manage to make yourself respected as an expert in some given field online.

We'll also, hopefully, have a few new faces this month! So, I'm going to keep building towards the structure that folks want: the meeting will start at 2 p.m. (even if I'm late!); if you don't want to miss any of it, and you'd like to get a snack or drink at the cafe, arriving a few minutes early would be best. I'd like to spend the first few minutes on introductions, 1 minute per person, so this'll be a good chance to give us your "elevator pitch". After that, a few minutes for any announcements (SiteShare! SiteShare! SiteShare!), and then we'll jump in to a free-form brainstorming session on internet marketing.

I'd like to wrap the meeting up around 2:45 if possible: one of the new faces will be Ruth Schwartz from High Performance Advocates (http://www.highperformanceadvocates.com/). If I understood everything correctly, she helps get groups of people together locally, as well as business strategic planning and development. She'd like to pitch a few things to us after the meeting, and I think she'll be a good person to know besides.

Thanks,

- Rob.

Hi Rob,

I’m not too sure about the wrapping up early part. We spent over an hour on local marketing last time and it was all good. Especially if we are going to do intros at the beginning, I feel like the “subject” of our meeting is going to get cut super short. Maybe Ruth could pitch at the next meeting?

Thanks,
Shawn

OK ... let's see how it goes? I'm going to try to keep the beginning really short. If we've still got a full head of steam at 3 o'clock, we'll work something out with Ruth. I don't want to waste her time, and I do think that she'll have some interesting information for the folks here, including an upcoming strategic planning meeting (one of the reasons I thought that this week would be timely for this).

If we're coming up with so much discussion on internet marketing that we can't wrap in an hour, then that's what the mailing list is for! We can continue the brainstorming/discussion here, and for that matter we haven't nailed down a topic for next month either.

If she's able to be there at 2, I'll talk to her and see if maybe she can do something as an announcement at the beginning of the meeting, and then stick around for more at the end.

- R.

Hang on Rob, you said wrapping up that discussion by 2:45, which is what I believe Shawn is referring to. An hour seems reasonable.
