Last Saturday, July-20th, new-this-year member BrianL completed the requirements for the 2024 Rouleur Award.

Since I had a life conflict arise and couldn't make the ride or even rider check-in, Brian stepped up to handle event host duties, and when the other registered rider bailed, Brian did the 153k Mayo Lake route solo.

Congratulations to Brian for completing the requirements for the Rouleur Award -- he is only the third NC RUSA member to earn a Rouleur Award in any given year (click here for the list of all RUSA Rouleur Award recipients).

Also, well-done done on completing the Mayo Lake 153 solo.

Click here to see a photo of the Rouleur Award and also to see a status report for possible Raleigh Region Rouleur Award aspirants.

Enjoy the ride,
...Martin

Grats Brian! Didn't you ride a little farther afterwards to make it an even century? or am I making that up? I'm sorry to hear someone bailed on you. What a scrub!

No kidding! Hard to find good ride companionship these days... 👀

I did indeed round it out to an even 100 miles. I was about 2 miles south of Berea when I realized I hadn't taken a photo at the control. Not a big deal since I was recording on my Garmin watch but... I crunched the numbers, did some quick soul-searching, then decided to double back to the control knowing it would put me close to 100 miles for the day (also because I know how much Martin likes selfies).

I got back to Ravenstone at 99.1 miles, at which point a quick lap around the back of the Food Lion rounded it out to 100.

Best part of the day: didn't end up hitting any meaningful precipitation. Putting my fenders on my bike the night before did the job perfectly.

A little late response sorry. But I would love to see the Double Cross with Fenders. I feel like that bike would look really sharp with those. Will you have them on this weekend?
