What's up,

BCBC is organizing a "Lucky Bike 100" ride from Cocoa Cinnamon at 420 W Main St, Durham. Depart at 8:15 am.

Here's a link detailing OCC's Lucky Bike 100 challenge:
The Lucky Bike 100 – An out and back challenge to Durham, NC.
OCC will give patches to our leaders to be distributed at the finish in Durham.
OCC is also having a day party for the Hopscotch festival on Sept 12.

We'll be riding the route as RUSA permanent 5939:
Randonneurs USA

This is a great long ride to bring a budding cyclist along for. For those who feel they can't finish, there are trains back from:
Raleigh (0.5 miles off route at mile 47 and mile 50) at 1:05, 3:45 and 7:15 pm, and trains back from
Cary (1.5 miles off route at mile 29 and mile 71) at 1:17, 3:57, and 7:28pm.

RUSA's elapsed time limits for the course:
Minimum time allowed 4 hours 44 mins (1 pm finish)
Maximum time allowed 11 hours 13 minutes. (7:30 pm finish)

Cheers,
John

This is awesome John! The Lucky Bike 100 is my favorite route in the entire area, so I am excited to see it as a permanent.

I was also really excited to see the new Sauratown Mountains route. That area has been on my radar for a while, but I haven't been able to put it together.

But alas, I won't be able to join y'all on the Lucky Bike; there is a cyclocross race at Dix the following day.

Chapeau!

Hey all,

The Lucky Bike 100 (Perm 5939) rolls from Cocoa Cinnamon (420 W Geer St) at 8:15 am this Saturday. Drop Jack a note it if you want to ride with him at 6:45/7 am (jack....@gmail.com)

The Lucky Bike route in the RUSA perm library has been updated with the WOCG reroute:
I put a "narrow path" hazard on the bridge on the Morrisville streetside path based off what it looked like on google maps, but it wasn't bad at all when I rode it on Tuesday. I would caution riders to stay single file there.

There were a few sharp turns on downhill portions of the re-route (in the direction of Cary to Durham), and at least once there was a wall on the outside of the turn.

This turn at mile 18 from a streetside path to green level greenway was easy to miss in the opposite direction of travel:

Make sure you're signed into RUSA on your phone - you can get a free beer when you show your perm result recorded in your results page or the permanent results page to your bartender at the arrivée,.Atomic Clock Brewing.

Cheers,
John Hugo Ellis
