Hi all, it is once again time to get hyped for the most fun you can have on a bike: Dart-Pop!
For those of y’all who haven't done this before, it goes something like this:
Three 120k routes have been created that are hilly, swoopy, and country, using some of the best roads the Piedmont has to offer. One route goes mainly north, one goes northwest, and one goes amongst the two. All of the routes cross each other and share some of the controls. All teams will start at exactly 7:00am using different exits from the start location. We all converge at the second to the last control, and then at exactly 1:00pm, we ride as teams that last 25kms (16 miles) to the final control, where we will all arrive by 3:00pm and rest, eat, and tell tall tales together.
If you're motivated by the bling, this is a team event that counts towards a RUSA Cup, the new RUSA Rouleur award, the P-12 awards, and all RUSA distance awards (but not any ACP awards).
Now to make this work, we need riders. Two or three teams of 4 or 5 bikes each would be awesome (tandems count as one bike). We divide up into teams in the parking lot before the start, but if you have a team in mind, please go ahead and let Martin know. If there is a specific route you want, let him know that too.
There is a little homework though: the PDF soft-copy waiver can be accessed here. Fill it out, print it, sign it, snap it or scan it, and then send to Martin by Thursday, Aug-01, 7pm so we'll know you are coming, and bring the wet-ink original waiver with you to the start. Also bring the $5 ride fee (exact cash, please).

There will be no paper cards- each rider will take photos at all of the controls. When done, email the control photos to Martin. (Take lots of good photos to share with everyone via the Google-group or the Facebook group. )

To perhaps encourage others (by knowing that some have already (more-or-less) signed up) to join the fun: two members in addition to myself have already indicated their intention to ride. Each needs to email a copy of their waiver (and bring the original to the event start), but the preliminary list, which I certainly hope will get loner, is:
- NickB, for the P-series credit (as he already did a Dart-Pop earlier this year),
- KyleB, maybe for the P-series credit and also maybe for the Rouleur Award,
- me, because I usually enjoy riding and in pursuit of my P-12 Award.

use the links in the Region website/(blog) as those are correct. to get to that, use the link in the signature line below.
As for the RWGPS links in the email, it seems that Google and Google-Blogger have adopted the same copying into protocols as Fakebook, in which copied links often or always do not copy as they ought to / as they used to.
