Ride will start at 0600.  Rider check-in from 0530 to 0550.

WRAL & WTVD are forecasting temps in the 90's and a heat index possibly reaching 109, but those won't occur until mid-to-late afternoon. 

Weatherunderground for locations out on the course are currently indicating ~ 70 degrees at 6 AM with 97% humidity, 

  and a temp of approx 92 and "feels like" a couple degrees higher than that at noon. 

Weatherunderground indicating breezes from the SW all ride -- 3 mph at 6 AM, followed by 5 mph from 9 or 10 AM. 

 

With the 6 AM start, I expect to finish the route between 12:30 and 1:00, takin it easy while riding and likely cooling off at some stores. 

I expect to avoid the worst of the high temps and heat index.

I wish I could go! I’m going out of town this weekend. I am off work tomorrow and might be able to get a 100k perm. in. It’s all up in the air though since my bike still isn’t ready. If I don’t ride tomorrow I will likely ride next weekend if anyone is interested. My pace is as yet unknown until I get a feel for my new bike.

Well, Nick, I'm confident that I'll be riding something next weekend, perm-pop wise.  

Likely, in no particular order, one of these: 

• Denny's Store Sortie, 138k perm-pop 
• Bay Leaf - Oxford - Bay Leaf, 104k perm-pop, 
•  
• or, if things develop in time (i.e., it gets re-activated): 
• Bahama Beach, route #1404, std route is 103k, but I almost never ride the std route.
