Hi everyone,

The Morrisville 600k Brevet is coming up at the end of the month on May 30th. The ride starts at 6am at the Historic Christian Church parking lot at 222 Church St at 6am. Cost of the ride is $20, cash, check or Venmo. Here's the link to the brevet with waiver, Ride with GPS track, etc. https://raleighrando.web.unc.edu/600-km-brevet/

Mike Dayton and I drove the entire route this past Friday. We made several attempts to find a way to avoid getting on HW55 south of Angier due to Old Buies Creek Rd. being closed. We even tried driving on a gravel road that was obviously under construction thinking that riders could possibly cycle-cross their way across, but that was not meant to be! Instead, there will be a 1.4 mile stretch on HW55 south of Angier.

At one point, Mike D was checking the map on his iPhone and said that we should be in the middle of a pond, not on a soon to be 4-lane divided highway!

The rest of the route was fine, and I'm happy to report that we have a room reserved at Shoreliner Motel in White Lake with easy access right on the route. We'll have bag drop service and sag wagon support available there (at 200k and 400k).  I placed a non-refundable deposit down on the room and will need a firm commitment if you are riding by Wed, May 27. (Otherwise, I risk losing the deposit.)

Thanks again to Mike D for driving out to Wilmington with me to scout the route.. We shared some great stories and reminisced about randonneuring.

Hope to see many of you in White Lake!

Anyone else interested in riding the 600?   It looks like this damp weather will ease up by the end of the week. We have a motel room right on the route in White Lake and I will likely be at the turnaround spot in Castle Hayne or patrolling the route between there and Rocky Point.

Thanks, Mike O
