I PROPOSE that we get together on the Ides of March at Tyler's Taproom
in DURHAM, NC. We can chug-a-lug and get all stabby FOR CAESAR!

SO, here's what I propose specifically:

SATURDAY, March 15th
Tylers Taproom ( http://www.tylerstaproom.com/durham/ )
8 pm - ????
Meet up in the back room (the Speak Easy)

If there is good enough response I might be able to talk to them about
throwing out some cheapie appetizers or something.

DON'T BE SHY. This give all you slackers a full month to clear your
busy schedules. Bring your camera and your high alcohol tolerances.
Let's show those Chicago fools that they aren't the only ones that can
have a good time.

I've been to this place, but I sat outside. From what I remember,
though, it's rather large inside. Anyone have thoughts on how to
recognize each other?

Good question.  Nametags with our Fark handles?  Or is that too nerdy even for a Fark gathering?  When Drew came to Durham for his book signing it was easy, because we went right from Barnes & Noble to the Ale House.

I've never been to a Fark party aside from that one, so I have no idea how it's normally done.

I'll have name tags for us and I might try to make up some kind of sign, but I'm not real artsy.  The front area of Tylers is really big, but that's all sit down space.  I was thinking of meeting up in the back area where there is space to roam and mingle, plus there is a full bar back there with the same great beer offerings.  I'll probably camp myself in the back corner by the pool table.  I'll be there around 8.

That sounds good.  I was kicking around the idea of getting there a little early, to beat the rush, but we haven't decided yet.  I'll be wearing a green and blue striped rugby shirt, and my wife will be wearing a green sweater.

My Fark handle is Brad_Will, by the way.

That sounds good to me.

If you don't have time to make a sign, my alumni group just folds up a
simple table topper with the school logo for our events -- it's easy,
and works pretty well. Basically, it's something small enough that
you're not going to see it unless you know to look for it, but
recognizable enough that you'll know you're at the right table.

I just want to say I had an outstanding time being with those who
showed up this evening. The level of snark was intoxicating. I look
forward to our next get together. Hopefully someplace where we do not
have to yell to communicate. And for being a Speakeasy, it was not,
so I am going to say it was a fun place to have been, it was a fail as
a speakeasy. And for now... I am outa here...

Had a great time meeting y'all (hey, I've been here 30 years, I'm allowed to say it!), looking forward to the next one. Bulls games should be on the list, and someplace QUIETER. But Tyler's does have a great buncha beer, so it's got that etc.
Say what?!
