NB2: missing features

Hello, I'm going to use NB2 for my classes (just about to start). A couple of features of the old NB version that I'd like to have in NB2 are rectangular region annotations (similar to what already asked by Philip Matern) and email notifications. Are there plans to have these two features implemented soon? Region annotation is useful (necessary) for images and hand-written slides. Text annotation works great for standard text and equations.
