NBA related machine learning project ideas?

Hi all,

I'm taking a graduate course in machine learning and we're asked to do on a final project on a topic of our choosing (essentially implementing ML algorithms, usually in some new field of research).  I was wondering if there are any NBA-related ideas anyone here has that they would want to toss around, or any extra papers/links you think would be a worthwhile read.
