EXPERIENCE RECORD
1999-2001 Currently employed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in
Fredericton NB as a Network Analyst/Administrator. I have been with the force for two
years as a contract worker. My contract with the RCMP will be ending in April 2001
and I am looking for a position that will be both challenging and rewarding. It
has been my responsibility over the past seven months to implement a system that
will allow the sharing of information between members involved in a major crime
investigation. This system allows for remote access to a central database and is
the first of its kind in Canada for the RCMP. It uses Dell servers running
Windows 2000 Terminal
EXPERIENCE RECORD (cont.)
Services and Citrix Metaframe. This system required months of research and
development, testing and implementation. Many documents had to be prepared to get
the approval and funding for this system. I believe that my two years with the
RCMP and my experience as a project leader has prepared me for any position that I
pursue.
1997-1999 Two years previous to working for the RCMP, I worked for the
department of education in Miramichi NB as a Network Support Technician. As the only
full-time technician in this district, I was personally responsible for the
administration, upgrade, and maintenance of twenty-three local area networks with
approximately 1000 Computers and over 3000 users. I had gained an abundance of
knowledge and experience not only with Novell networks and networking in general but
also with interacting and effectively communicating with the end-users. This
school district had a large variety of computers, peripherals and networking
hardware, with a concentration on Netware as the main network operating system. One of
my largest tasks while working there was the upgrade of District 16 s office
network from Novell 3.12 to 4.11 with almost no assistance. I also upgraded James
M. Hill high school, which has two servers, an ATM line, and approximately 250
computers in ten computer labs.
1992-1995 Worked at McDonalds Family Restaurant, Amherst N.S. Employed at this
location for three years (1992 & 64979; 1995). Manager: Danny Moore.
1994 Completed two weeks of on& 64979;the& 64979;job training at the Amherst
Credit Union. Obtained a greater understanding of accounting as it pertains to
banking learned to cope with pressures of a busy office.
EDUCATIONAL RECORD
ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE
Completed a two-week course at the Canadian Police College in Ottawa ON. This
course focused on the recovery of data, the searching and retrieval of evidence,
and the proper handling of such information found on a suspects computer.
ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE
Completed a one-week course on Upgrading Novell 4.11 to 5. Covered the upgrade,
a fresh install and the differences of the two Network Operating System
versions. Also covered the setup of DHCP and the conversion to native IP.
EDUCATIONAL RECORD (cont.)
EASTERN BUSINESS COMPUTER INSTITUTE:
Completed a one year Network Administrator course which covered NT 4.0, Linux,
Web administration, and mainly Novell Netware 3.11, 3.12, and 4.11. The emphasis
was on Novell due to the fact that the main objective of this course was to
obtain the CNE certification. Topics also studied in this course included Web page
design, communicating in the work environment, and providing internet services
such as mail servers, web servers, and ftp servers.
EASTERN BUSINESS COMPUTER INSTITUTE:
Completed a one-year Application Programmer course. Studied the practical
implementation of programming languages in the working environment. Involved the
development of applications to be used in sales, inventory, and information systems.
These tasks were implemented through the use of C++, Powerbuilder, dBase, and
Cobol. This training has given me a deciding edge over other technicians and
network administrators that have only had training with the hardware aspect of
computers and networking.
AMHERST REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL:
Grade 12 Diploma, One Year Business Diploma majoring in Word and Information
Processing and Accounting. Received awards for highest average and for being the
most co-operative, participative, and dependable student in the course.
Level one first aid and CPR training.
NBCC BATHURST
Completed a one-week course for Novell 4.11 Administration.
FUTURE ASPIRATIONS
To acquire a full-time position in the field of information technology that
will challenge my abilities, reward my successes, and broaden the scope of my
knowledge.
To obtain the Industry recognized Microsoft Certifications for Windows 2000
(MCSE)
To gain more knowledge of routers, hubs, switches, and gateways to pursue the
Cisco Certifications
