Has anyone written free software that can interface to a fitbit and get the data from it?

I ve just got a fitbit and during my day to day walking during work, tge steps seems realistic. I also had it on during my run and the fitbit seems to only count half of my steps. According to distance seen on my gps watch i would have expected double the amount of steps. If i take the realgps distance and divide that by fitbit steps, I have a stride length of 1.5 meter. Impossible cause I run with small strides. Is this a kniwn issue? Fitbit zip was attached to my pants

He is also99-44/100s sure that it will work that way. You said you had a fitbit on order. I suggest you wear it a day or 2 when you get it and then create a dummy or project account for it (unless you have a burning desire to replace your Charge with it).
