Hi
im trying to figure out how can i measure the slow movement  side to side using the navx mxp. Besides using accelerators which will not be effective to accurately measure with accuracy like a gyro can maintain a coordinate, which you can return to. If anyone knows how to do this please help.  An example of what im trying to do is as follows: you have a robot that is driving straight to a gyro set point, while it is maintaining the navigation point while moving forward the robot has a slight movement or strife to one side, but it maintains the foward coordinate, i would like to take the x movement and correct this movement.

If it's an angular tilt you want to measure, then the "roll" angle will provide helpful information.

But from your description, it sounds like you want to measure lateral left/right (X-axis) motion; from my experience the best solution is to mount a fixed wheel (omniwheels work well for this) with an encoder on it that measures the linear motion in the X axis.

As you've mentioned, the accelerometers on todays inexpensive IMUs are not accurate enough, so I think this type of passive "follower" wheel is the simplest thing that could possibly work.
