How "live" is "live wind"?

Navigator (at least the beta version) now has "live wind"; basically, the wind at the airport is shown when you tap the live wind icon next to an airport icon. The time of the wind report is also shown, and I've see wind reports as old as 45 minutes looking around my area while on the ground. That's "historic" not "live". Are the reported times shorter if you are flying?

During my flight yesterday, I could see the situation with old wind data is the same in flight. That's disappointing: if the wind data was no more than 10-15 minutes old, it might be useful. Does anyone think the Live Wind feature, as it currently exists, is useful? I note that most of the places that have Live Wind also have an AWOS, which seems much more useful.

Hi Eric -
I had my much-postponed first flight of the season today.  I learned a lot about the instrument.  I tried the live wind feature, and, like you, I found that it was not as good as listening to the AWOS.
