Has anyone tried running the Copilot app from WeGlide on the Oudie N? Seems like it should work, but I haven't tried it, except to load Navigator and Copilot on my Samsung S8, where they "seem to work" together.

Hi Eric,

The Oudie N doesn't support any apps other than SeeYou Navigator, and the built-in browser.

But I think SeeYou Navigator and SkySight already provide all or most of the same functionality as WeGlide Copilot.  What does Copilot offer that SeeYou Navigator with SkySight don't offer?

Best Regards,

Using CoPilot, Glide and Seek, and PureTrack, all running on my PC (CoPilot is also running on my iPhone), I can see 10 to 20 gliders gliders flying in the Williams/San Francisco area. I can not see any on Navigator, whether it's an Oudie N or Navigator running on a phone. Should I be seeing those gliders? If so, what might be my problem?

Hi Eric -
I have the same experience and the same question.  I wonder if there's a distance limit, above which Navigator doesn't display OGN targets.  It's frustrating because I can't test the tracking feature using gliders that are still flying out west.

There is an odd shaped icon on the menu page that turns on and off OGN display, but of course you have to be hooked up to live data, either through your phone or a data card.

And while we are talking about what it can do and not do, you still CANNOT declare a task to other instruments like the S-100 even with it talking to the S-100.

Seriously wondering if they are Ever going to get all the capabilities of the original Oudie so we have a real Soaring Flight computer, of if we just have a pretty display and nice maps.

For my purposes, it's better already:

  1. In-flight SkySight, especially the satellite images and wave. This was not available for my Oudie 2, as there was no coverage for it in my flying area.
  2. My eyes aren't so young anymore, so for me the display is much better, displaying at least twice as much info as my Oudie 2.
  3. Not as important, but nice: automatic TFR updates, backup using a phone (like having a free flight computer), built-in cell phone (no fooling around with hot spots and another device), easier Navbox setup.

Declaring tasks to other instruments isn't something I need, so I don't miss it 😛

Hi Kevin -
Are you saying that the OGN feature works only on the cellular network (and not on the internet via WiFi)?
I am not in a position to do a test to answer this question myself (no cell coverage here).

Today on Navigator (Oudie N and a phone), I could see a glider at Arlington, WA, and 5 gliders at Hope, BC, with and without wifi activated. Glide&Seek, PureTrack could see those, and many others in California and elsewhere. It appears Navigator is limited to displaying gliders with 250NM or so of it's location. The info box for each glider had an OGN tag in it, so I'm sure the info is coming from OGN. I'll stop obsessing's about it until I fly when other gliders are flying.

Thanks for this useful information, Eric.  The evidence is now pointing to the existence of a distance limit.  I wish we could get that confirmed!

At the BGA Conference in April (UK event) Luka from Naviter was running what was presumably a pre-release version hooked up to an S100 on which these features were enabled. It doesn't affect me  so I didn't ask when they will be released but I don't expect it will be long.

I asked for profiles, said to be coming soon, and a stats page - although you could make up your own by filling a page with navboxes.
