I have a USB socket on the panel, so I can charge my phone (and the Oudie N, inReach, and QC20 earphones, if needed) from the glider battery; I'd like to be able to use the Oudie N to charge things, should the glider battery have a problem.

I've put the Naviter USB power converter in 3 sailplanes without
problem. It solved noise problems in all three gliders. No
ferrite beads, chokes, or additional shielding required.

The heat sink on the Naviter unit makes me think it is a linear
power converter rather than a switcher converter. I use my iPhone
as a hotspot for the cockpit computer and power it from the
Naviter power converter. Everything works as expected with both
XCSoar Jet and Navigator. I keep the phone in a side pocket in
the cockpit. Just remember to blank the screen (reduces the power
required by the phone) before dropping it in the pocket.

I'll check next weekend when I'm at the club. But I remember
being able to see what looked like a heatsink under the
heatshrink. But if you start with a charged battery you aren't
looking a the same current draw for a low battery situation.
