 With the co-operation of students and guides, the project evaluation committee (RPS, DK & PK) could complete the project reviews 1, 2 & 3 as per the announced schedule.

The revised BTP schedule, based on the Institute guidelines is as below

Project work completion: 08 May 2014
Guide's Project Evaluation mark reporting: 10 May 2014 (25 marks)
Project report submission : 13 May 2014 (last date)
Final presentation/viva voce:  19 May 2014 (30 marks)

Project Evaluation Scheme and Review Dates are as below. 

Review 1: 27 Jan 2014 (10 marks)
Review 2: 03 Mar 2014 (15 marks)
Review 3: 07 April 2014 (20 marks)
Project work completion: 30 April 2014
Guide's Project Evaluation mark reporting: 02 May 2014 (25 marks)
Project report submission : 05 May 2014

Dear All,

This is a reminder to you all regarding the BTP report submission, presentation & evaluation.

The 30 marks alloted to the final assessment by the BTP Evaluation Committee will have a break up as below
- 20 marks for the work content and project report 
- 10 marks for the presentation/viva voce
 
Project Report - submit 3 copies of the report signed by you and the guide(s) to my room (Room No.304) on or before 13 May 2014, 5.00pm. Your report will be evaluated by a faculty member other than your guide.

Presentation and Viva Voce - On 19th May 2014, 9.00am onwards in the Conference Room. Individual schedule will be announced later. The presentation duration is 7 min and viva voce/ Q&A will be for 8min (Total 15 min per student)

Presentation material (PPT) preparation format:
A minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 slides are allowed.

Slide1: Project Title, Student name & roll no., guide's name
Slide 2: Objective, scope and methodology
Last slide: Summary &Conclusion
Other slides: Work, results & discussion

As per the Institute schedule and Dean's direction, the project grades have to be uploaded in Workflow on 20th May 2014. Those who could not or do not want to complete the project as per the present schedule will have to pay a penalty fee of Rs.1500 as prescribed by the academic section. Such students will get time upto 13 June 2014 for project report submission and the presentation/viva voce has to be conducted on or before 26 June 2014.

We will not be in a position to entertain change in the above schedule and other individual requests, as many faculty members will be away on vacation, travel, Conferences, etc. You please check with your guide about his availability also.

 
NK Award, instituted by the Japanese Ship Classification Society (Nippon Kaiji) for the top two BTP in the area of Shipping & Shipbuilding, selection will have to be done on 19th May 2014 and the students name have to be sent to the Dean, Academic Courses on or before 20 May 2014. So, the students who go for late submission will not be considered for the award.

Madhuri,

You may please inform all that those who submit the project reports by 13 May 2014 will have the viva on 19.05.2013 and for others it will be only by 26.06.2014. The project report evaluation may take about 5-6 days, which needs to be done prior to the viva. The grades need to be uploaded by 20.05.2014.

The faculty members will be busy with the PhD and MS admission interviews scheduled for 20-23 May 2014.

Those who are yet to submit the project reports, please note the following

1. You need to submit only one copy of the final draft report (a spiral bound volume), which should be complete in all respect including the format, with the sign/approval of your guide. The final three copies need be submitted only after the presentation & viva, after incorporating the changes suggested by the board.

2. The last date for the late submission of the report is 13.06.2014. The draft reports may please be submitted to Ms.Aswathy (Prof.Anantha Subramanian's room, N0.004 in Ground Floor).

3. We will not be available in the institute as shown - myself from 03 Jun to 07 Jul, Dr.Panneer Selvam from 31 May to 15 Jun & Dr.Deepak from 05 to 25 Jun. But, you may be able to contact us through email in a limited way.

4. The presentation and viva of those who submit the project within the stipulated date will be be conducted on 26.06.2014. You may please contact Dr.Panneer Selvam after 15 Jun for further details & schedule.
