Yeah Shipmates , Hairoil passed away on friday 22/8/08 in his sleep.
He was a good mate to all of us. and I will miss him heaps. He loved
his Nautic and he was a great enthusiastic owner of the class. He
asked that his boat be put back into the class. We all remember the
funny stories that he was always telling about his war experiences, as
a jockey and as a sailor and his favourite story about the' mother and
the daughter' , well that will go down in memory of such a jovial
man.

All His mates will go to see him off and his distant mates , well
boys , next time you toast , toast a passing mate, HAIROIL.

Th..anks Steve, he certainly will be missed both here and over there.
The hospitality he showed us while competing in the Trans Tasman
Series was outstanding not only did he make it possible for us from
over here to attend this event, but the way he kept us entertained
with his lifes adventures, at times ithought my sides were going to
burst. I for one will be lifting my glass of house red in memory of
hairoil, one of lifes true gentle men. Browny KZ21

Well Shipmates, we have managed to sell Hairoils boat on to Ted Day a
fellow member of Ancient Mariners. Ted sails with us on Wednesdays.
Ted sailed to day with us and he had Aussie 11 going really well .
Hairoil would have been proud. It was Hairoil's desire that one of
Ancient Mariners got his boat. Which is typical of the way Hairoil
was, as people knew him.
The weather is getting warmer here, so things are on for a more
concerted effort in getting the numbers of Nautic 12s up.
