Well we had our Anniversary Regatta for Nautic 12s in Scarborough Park
in Sydney . It was put on by the Ancient Mariners club. Generally on
this day there is a R/C yachts Australia Day Regatta . somewhere in
Sydney. Over the years it has been very well patronized to such an
extent that there was about 8 classes ailing and this of course meant
that no individual class go very much racing in the day, generally
about 4 to 5 races.

We Nautics sailed last year's regatta with all the other classes but
we thought we could do better on our own and this proved to be the
case this year. We called our regatta the (anauragal) National Nautic
12 regatta for want of an name. and had 7 enthusiastic entries.

Our Sponsor Errol C had made all the entrants special tall coffee
cups with the entrant's boat put on including the colour of the boat
hull and the sail numbers. As you can imagine , this was very well
recieved , by all.

The wind of the day of the event was very light . So much so that it
could be called a "drifter". Never the less , the event had to run. 4
out of the boats had at least one winning race during the regatta.
This kept everyone interested to the last race. It could be said that
a lot of skill was learnt in these trying conditions. As we packed up
at about 3.30 pm, the wind started to blow but it was too late for the
prize giving was in full swing.

KA7 first won by Warren
KA1 second by Steve
KA3 third by Gerry

We will be having a second National championship for Nautic 12s in
Australia, this year. We decided we would do this as something
different.

Thanks Steve for the results of your Australia day regatta, looks
like Warren carried on from where he left off from the Trans Tasman
series. We sailed at the quarry lake today it has got to be the worst
venue in NZ the weed is diabolickle however beggars cant be choosers.
Something ithink the Nautic 12 association needs to adress is the sail
plan perhaps a 2 metre high rig for the a rig use the present a rig as
a b rig look at creating a c rig for areal blow. Ive noticed since
sailing the nautics they tend to screw up badly when a gust hits the
weight tends to take over have you any thoughts on the matter

No I don't think we need to look at the sail plan. There does not seem
to be anything wrong and I'm a great believer in not fixing anything
if it ain't stuffed. You are intitled to your opinion but I know
you're wrong on that subject , because the boat performs on all levels
of wind from 0 to 40 knots. When it gets to forty knots only kiwis are
still out there, us Ozzies are holding up the Bar.
