6 boats at pond today of note Nevile was using his version of the
vector rig ,boat was definatly on the pace and can only get better
with tuning.Conditions were light from the south the top boat through
consistancy was Trev followed by Jim Rob,Nevile,Bob and Ian. Not only
were the conditions light but allso overcast which made judgment on
the water difficult .

I Thought the handicap system we had in operation worked very well we
all had weed, some more than others. The quarry Lake is a great contest
leveler.

Im always amazed at the fervour some of our races are raced at...........not
with standing the prize is of not much monetary value from the intense looks
of concentration
On the faces of some skips, and the torrent of words produced if one thinks
he is at a disadvantage, the object of enjoying ones self seems to have been
lost at some time.
Is it old fashioned to sail for the enjoyment, spending time with people with
the same interest ?............i hope not.It would be bad news if Road
Rage,became lake Rage
Its bad enough copping with Old Age.

Bob although the racing when just for fun is good .There are those of
us who have a competative streak running through our bodies. I believe
that the competition side of racing is what stimulates class growth.
The reason for publishing results is to encourage those sailers out
there who wish to sail competativly to look at the Nautic 12 as a
competative class. After all which clases out there have as close
racing as we do as the results show in 8 races we had 3 different
winners and apart from weed and skipper skill all boats are
competative. Can the same be said for the light weight classes eg i
meter and marlbehead where it is a case of dollars and who has the
latest design that seems to make the difference. As has be shown if the
top skippers in nautic 12s sail the boats belonging to the last place
fineshers they usually move that boat to the front of the fleet as all
boats have the same speed potential. Rob mcpherson Nautic 12 Publicity

Rob, we have a handicap system operating at wattle downs called the
golf handicap system that works extremely well, if you like i will get
all the details for your perusal. The basics of it is everybody gets a
number, for example a novice may get zero which is then multiplied by
the number of races sailed plus the points one accumulates over the
days sailing, this certainly levels thing out and gives everyone a
chance of winning which in turn keeps people coming back for more

5 boats at pond today.Conditions were poor to say the least. We had no
wind then gusts and holes all over the pond .The day was realy a
lottery as a boat could get a good 20 boat lenght lead only to see the
rest of fleet get a gust and sail past.No results taken for the day.We
are all hoping for a good breeze to show up for the next race meeting
which will be the second round of the winter series next week.Nev
showed up with his Micro Magic for its first sail.Looks like a toy
compared to a nautic 12 but the class seems to be tacking off around
the world!!!Unfortunatly the boats are so small i feel they may
dissapear in the glare on the pond Some of our sailers have enough
trouble seeing a nautic 12 on the water so the mind boggles as to how
the will fair with a Micro Magic.

6 boats at pond by unaamus decision it was agreed to postpone winter
series till nev has recovered and is able to race. For the first time
in quite awile we had a good breez blowing streight up the pond .The
racing was very close with no boat realy having an edge. Some times the
racing tended to be to close with minor damage taking 1 boat
out.Perhaps in the time between now and when the winter series
restarts it would be good if some members actually learned the rules
and what is the difference between starboard and port.Allso a little
bit of common courtesy would go a long way.I dont see any problem with
appoligising if your are in the wrong and damage a fellow competiters

4 boats at pond today Weather was overcast with steady breeze due to
wind direction we sailed to the top mark and had a starboard rounding
The boats were evenly matched Trev sailing K Z 3 was again the boat
to beat followed by Brian and Rob who regulary swapped finnishing
positions Ian had a poorly tuned boat but when Jim arrived and tweeked
the rig he quickly got on to the pace.Brians boat was fast down wind
but of the pace to windward mainly due to his mast being raked
forward !!!! It was good to get a call from Nev when i got home he
had his surgery last week and is now at home recovering and cant wait
to get back on the water.Rob mcpherson Nautic 12 publicity officer

3 boats at pond today. It was good to see Neville back on the water. The
winds were fairly light with a direction change mid way through 1 race
What was interesting was that all 3 boats had different rigs and sail
material.Bobs boat had the origanl rig and sail material while Nevills
sported a modified vector rig and mylar sails,While Rob had a full
vector rig and american sails,For all these differences there was no
speed difference at all Nevilles was the boat to beat by vertue of
seeming to point slightly better than the other 2 boats But the racing
was very close no more than 15 seconds or 3 to 4 boat lengths at the
finish A REMINDER THE SPRING SERIES STARTS 6 SEPTEMBER ! Rob Mcpherson

Hi all,

I attended Errol Coates funeral yesterday along with Steve, Bob and a
few others of his sailing mates.
As I had not known Errol that long it was interesting to here stories of
his life, from his youth riding horses as a race jockey to his war
service as a communications officer, to his full size sailing in TS16
trailer sailors and the joy he had passing on his sailing and horse
riding skills to his Grand Children
His working life was also very amazing.
I wish him fair winds upstairs and I know we will miss him.

Regards

5 Boats at pond today.Sunshine and winds from the south The breeze was
up around 10 knots with shifts an gusts.Ideal sailing weather for our
boats. It is allways thrilling to watch the Nautics fly down wind wing

resuts showed just how eaven the boats are. There were 4 different
boats scoring wins today Neville with 3 and Jim,Bob,and Rob all
scoring 1 appeace the only boat not to score a win was Ian but he was

7 boats at pond today for start of spring series Althought only 6
decided to face the starter .The breez although lite was steady and
almost streight down the pond overall coming out on top was KZ 6 with
6 guns and a total after 10 races of 14 points followed by KZ 1 on 17
KZ 22 on 29 KZ 23 on 33 KZ 14 on 41 and finaly KZ 2 on 52 the points
show a fairly consistent performance by all boats. At different times
weed was a problem for everyone only 3 boats were able to take guns
today KZ 6 had 6 wins followed by KZ 23 and KZ 1 with 2 apiece .A good
day i believe was had by all hopefully we will have a better turnout

Today we sailed at panerama lake in Henderson .We had 5 boats on water
I feel that this could be a good venue when the breeze is in the
correct direction.Mostly today was spent tryling the course etcThe
breeze continued to build during the morning to the point that it got
to B rig conditions.Maurice was doing extreamly well untill his rig
loosend and decided to part company with the boat after retrieving the
rig and then the hull we spent time in the dinghy repositioning the
marks on the course as the bottom mark was a bit to far away to see
clearly when there was a fleet on the water.Rob Mcpherson Nautic 12

second on count back with 2 wins and 3 thirds Bob was third with 5 3rd

8 boats at pond saturday but only 5 decided to face the
starter.Conditions were at the upper level for the A rig On top after
the days sailing was Neville with 5 wins to his credit followed by
Pete ,Rob,Jim and Scott in that order.Jim had the misfortune off
loosing his rig over the side in 1 race.Rob was tryling his new set up
with the expected teathing problems.he has again moved the winch below
decks but this time it is centered under the hatch. The reason he has
done this is to get even balance for the hull .Neville allso has
altered his weight distribution by using a corrector weight aft in the
hull.
