I am using a VB Script to print a Crytal Report 8.0 file to a printer, and recently was asked to save the reports in electronic (.rpt) format as well. I attempted to use the .export method of the CrystalRuntime object, but cannot make it work. When I execute my export code, I get an error 800478EC, "Missing or out-of-date export DLL". I've researched this error at great length and checked everything I can find that I'm supposed to check, but to no avail.
I can change the export command to ".export(true)" and it prompts me for the format type and filename, but I get an error 80043AC1 (there is no description, and I haven't had time to research that one yet).
The operating system I'm running this on is Windows Server 2003. I've also tested the same configuration on my Windows XP laptop with the same result. Thank you in advance for your help with this one!
This being Windows Server 2003, permissions of some sort come to mind right away. But before I continue, the usual; CR 8, very, very old. Not supported anymore, no way to get a fix if this is a bug of some sort, etc., etc.
I ran the process monitor, and there were no "Access Denied" errors. Like I said, this same issue occurs on my XP machine, not just the Server 2003 OS. Anyway, all I see in the process monitor log are references to DLL connections, including all the U2*.dll, located in C:\Windows\Crystal\, and the mysterious "Cannot locate wshENU/wshEN.dll" errors. As for CR 8 not being supported, aren't there any "old timers" still around that remember version 8? Seriously, what version would I need to upgrade to in order to receive support? In addition, if I do upgrade, what guarantees do I have that the new version will still be compatible with all the other software at my plant (I'll be happy to provide a list, if need be)? The system runs in a validated environment, and if I'm going to go to the trouble to make an upgrade, it darn well better work the first time! Thanks again,
1) you are looking for pretty old "old timers" with CR 8 being out of support for about 10 years... and anyhow, the only reason I mentioned it is so that it is clear that if this turns out to be a bug or we can not resolve it, you're out of luck. There is no fix path, there is no escalation path.
2) vba / vb scripts were never tested so again that officially "not supported" stuff. What this meant was that unless the issue could be reproduced in a supported environment (e.g.; vb 6, c++) there again was no fixes or escalation path.
So, that takes us to your question re. what version of CR you 'd need to be supported. In light of (2) above, no version of CR would be supported given your scenario. Also, see [this =/pub/wlg/11624] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]; blog re. the RDC and it's life cycle.
Re.; "...what guarantees do I have that the new version will still be compatible with all the other software at my plant...". That surely is not a question that can be answered. At least I don't see how I can guarantee anything along these lines. I'm not sure any software manufacturer would give you such guarantees.
3) Cannot export in any other format, the same error message appears when the destinationtype = CrEDTDiskFile. When the .export (true) is set however, the export popup window appears requiring the user to manually select export type and destination. The export also works correctly from within Crystal Report.

I'm trying to build a VB6 console application to automatically export Crystal Reports to PDF format. This needs to be done without user interaction (no Save As or Print dialog boxes). The idea is to replace an existing application that uses Neevia DocCreator to print to PDF, but requires the user to interact with a Save As dialog for each report.
I'm running into a problem when doing the actual export. In the code below, using a sample report for testing, the line "oXRpt.Export False" throws an error, "Missing or out-of-date export DLL." I have not been able to determine which dll it's referring to. The Crystal Report Export reference in the project points to C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\Viewers\ActiveXViewer\sviewhlp.dll. That dll exists in the referenced directory.
Has anyone successfully done this, or does anyone have knowledge of which dll may be the problem? I can also accept a solution that prints to PDF without any user interaction (we do not have full Adobe Acrobat and this company will not be buying it; not my decision, sorry). Here's my code:
Here is the list of support files I use in my accounting software package regarding Crystal Reports exporting. It is a segment of an Inno-Setup script, but you should be able to get the idea from this list of what to look for:
In CE 9 - we have been running this report for almost five years and the data was varying from 2 Million to 12 Million rows and we never had a problem. Recently we started getting Out of Memory error. so we made couple of changes to report Like Suppressing sub-reports, deleting page numbers, increasing the virtual memory, disk space etc. Even then we were still facing the same problem. This reports runs for about 1 to 2 hrs.
Can anyone assist me on fixing this problem.
You might also compare the Select Expert settings to the SQL Query that Crystal generates from it to see if all of your selections are being translated by Crystal into a WHERE clause. If any of them are missing, this means that the local machine is doing all the hard work instead of the server.
Also, my experience has been that frequently an Out of Memory error in Crystal is actually due to disk space issues. Crystal does a lot of its own disk swapping instead of/in addition to using Virtual Memory. So you do need to look at how much free space is available on the C: drive of the server to see if that might be affecting your reports.
I'm looking to track details of the specific questions a user is getting right in a final assessment within a Rise course using a Cornerstone on Demand (CSOD) LMS. The settings I use to publish are SCORM 2004, and 'track using quiz result'.
I know there are other threads relating to CSOD IE errors where compatibility settings are forced, but that's not an issue for me. I also appreciate that if my organisation adopted an LRS and I'd published this in xAPI, I wouldn't have this problem, but I have to settle with SCORM for now.
Hi there Tom, and thanks for reaching out. Rise doesn't currently send question-level data to an LMS. The good news is that it's on our feature roadmap. We don't have a delivery date for it yet, but I'll be sure to let you know as soon as it's available.
Our team is still looking at adding a feature to allow you to track question-level data for Rise quiz questions, and we're targeting to release that feature by this quarter. Some Rise timelines may shift as we test and look at implementing new features, so we'll let you know as soon as this is ready.
Can someone provide specifics on LMS export settings for a Rise quiz? Here's what I'm using to publish a Rise course and quiz to Cornerstone. Despite the link provided saying "Rise courses now send question-level details to an LMS", that does not seem to be the case in my reporting. Thanks!
If you wanted to test the course outside of your LMS, using SCORM Cloud is a great option. You could also enable LMS debug mode when you test in SCORM Cloud and your LMS to compare the information passed between both.
Anyone else experiencing issues with the question-level data that Rise outputs being incomplete? I had previously done some testing with it, and had experienced the question stems displaying wrong (almost seemed to be showing a previous version in some cases, in other cases it was random characters). Testing again today and that seems to be fine, but I noticed that out of my 12 quiz questions for a particular course, it's only displaying 8 of them in my LMS's question-level data report. One of the missing questions is True/False, one Multiple Choice and two Multiple Response.... so doesn't seem to be an issue with a specific question type, and I can't spot any pattern or reason as to why they aren't included.
Thanks for sharing that data. I can see that 4 people are marked as Completed/Passed, and 2 people are marked as In Progress/Failed. Can you tell me more about what isn't working correctly in Cornerstone?
When publishing a RISE course with an knowledge check/assessment to CSOD, if we publish for SCORM 2004, which edition should be selected 2nd, 3rd or 4th for publishing the RISE file? We are looking for question level reporting. Does the 4th Edition work with Cornerstone?
Cornerstone currently supports SCORM 1.2, 2004 (3rd edition) and AICC. Note: Currently, SCORM 2004 3rd edition is implemented. Backward compatibility is generally expected, and thus courses published in 2nd edition is likely to work properly, but it is advised that courses are created using SCORM 2004 3rd edition.
Using the Export Wizard, you can export data from an Access database to in a file format that can be read by Excel. This article shows you how to prepare and export your data to Excel, and also gives you some troubleshooting tips for common problems that might occur.
When you export data to Excel, Access creates a copy of the selected data, and then stores the copied data in a file that can be opened in Excel. If you copy data from Access to Excel frequently, you can save the details of an export operation for future use, and even schedule the export operation to run automatically at set intervals.
Your department or workgroup uses both Access and Excel to work with data. You store the data in Access databases, but you use Excel to analyze the data and to distribute the results of your analysis. Your team currently exports data to Excel as and when they have to, but you want to make this process more efficient.
