When we get the riders / houses organized, let's be sure we share cell phone numbers for every car and house.

FYI, this was forwarded by my friend on Emerald Isle. Looks like Saturday will be _very_ windy.

The rain is supposed to end on Friday, and "north to northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph ... expected inland with coastal areas seeing 20-30 mph gusting to 40-45 mph at times, especially Friday night and early Saturday" should dry the fields off nicely.

Several of the Lookout Ultimate players organizing this tourney work for NOAA. I'm sure they are prepared for damp fields and lots of wind on Saturday.

I don't think we will have trouble driving down or with our housing. But we should keep an ear out for the weather.

Subject: Coastal Storm Threat Assessment

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Pls see below from the County Emergency Mgmnt Office, and attached
from the Nat'l Wx Service in Newport.

This one has kind of snuck up on us.  Folks have been talking of
rain---now it appears high winds will accompany the front.

All,

Rain will be heavy at times late Thursday night and on Friday as a
strong low pressure system moves along the North Carolina/South Carolina
border then off the coast. Rainfall amounts are generally expected to be
1-2 inches with the potential for localized flooding in poor drainage
areas. There is also a threat for isolated thunderstorms with locally
gusty winds.

Winds will increase as the low pressure system moves off the coast south
of the area Friday afternoon. North to northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph
can be expected inland with coastal areas seeing 20-30 mph gusting to
40-45 mph at times, especially Friday night and early Saturday. Over the
coastal waters, gale force winds can be expected late Friday through
early Saturday. The strong winds will build seas up to 12-14 feet. Gale
watches or warnings may be issued later today.

Water level rises of 2 feet are possible later Friday through Saturday.
Areas affected include the Outer Banks and the southern Pamlico Sound
including areas adjacent to Pamlico County and the lower reaches of the
Neuse River including southern Craven and down east Carteret Counties. A
Coastal Flood Advisory may be issued later today or tonight.

Impacts will be diminishing as the low moves farther out to sea later in
the weekend.
