- Some of my volunteers who use the app on their iPhones are having difficulty with getting the correct date and time to save with their observations. We went into the Settings and selected Yes for 'Include Time in Dates Observed' and we also went in to set the date and time under the Observe tab, in Observation Date. Still won't save accurately.

- Additionally, when they click on the Observation Date drop-down the boxes to click on 'Set Date' and 'Set Time' are tiny. Like so small I can barely accurately select them (I'm 32 - definitely good with my dexterity still lol). If they can get them and change them, they don't save.

- Lastly, one user checked her observations in the Review tab and they showed 22/11 observations recorded for almost all of her trees. (We don't even have that many phenophases appearing yet).

I've attached a photo of the last issue but don't have one of the first 1/2.

Any advice is very welcome!

Thank you,

Hi Callia,

Thanks for reaching out! I'm going to respond to each of your remarks inline below, and hopefully we can get each one sorted out.

Can you elaborate on this? Is it that either date or time isn't represented accurately? How are you verifying the date entered? Are you using the Review screen and seeing that the dates listed there don't match what you entered on the Observe screen? Is there anything in common between the wrong dates, e.g. are they all off by exactly one hour, etc.?

This screen shot you sent is helpful. Could you also provide a photo of these buttons that are too small? It looks okay on my Andorid device but there's sometimes differences between iPhone and Android and even between different versions of each of those, which is likely why we didn't catch this in testing. We recently made some changes to the interface for iPhone so there's a strong possibility that it affected the particular device you're using. If you can send a picture and let us know the version of iOS you're using that would help us troubleshoot.

My intuition is that this is related to the first point you made, in that somehow you're able to enter observations twice for the same plant/date/time and so the # of observations are doubling up, so I think these two problems are related. One thing we could also try is producing a debug report. To do this, go to the Settings screen and click on the Nature's Notebook logo 7 times in a row which will bring up a debug menu from there you can write a short message and submit the issue. This will provide us with a copy of your database and can allow us to troubleshoot further.

If you can provide some of the above details that would go a long way in helping us figure this out, and providing a patch. Thank you so, so much for your patience!
