Both Sara and I have been thinking about all of you - many have been scrambling to get your programs rearranged for continued data collection, and some have decided to take the plunge with Nature’s Notebook now to keep people engaged during our time apart.
Because we’ve had an overwhelming number of requests for us to just “hop on a zoom call and demonstrate how to use Nature’s Notebook really quickly for us”, we’ve decided to offer a series of office hours over the next three weeks. If you find yourselves wanting to have a personal conversation with us, here is your chance. It is just too hard to find time to talk to each and everyone for an hour on their own schedules.
So, no matter if you are just beginning, if you’ve gotten stuck on something in Nature’s Notebook, if you have a question about how to answer a phenophase, or need advice on how to set up your program or site, consider popping into one of our office hours time slots. We are
providing 1/2 hour windows of time every business day for the
rest of the month, at different times because we know not everyone can make a “9am” meeting. Also keep in mind that we’ve got leaders all over the country in every time zone, so we are trying to make sure the major times of the day are available at some point. Folks in Hawaii, let us know if these times do not work for you.
The dates and times, starting tomorrow, are as follows:
- Thursdays (4/9; 4/16; 4/30) at 4:30 pm-5:00 pm Pacific, 5:30 pm Mountain, 6:30 pm Central, and 7:30 pm Eastern
- Fridays (4/10; 4/17; 4/24) at 3:00 pm-3:30 pm Pacific, 4:00 pm Mountain, 5:00 pm Central, and 6:00 pm Eastern
- Mondays (4/13; 4/20; 4/27) at 11:00 am-11:30 am Pacific, noon Mountain, 1:00 pm Central, and 2:00 pm Eastern
- Tuesdays (4/14; 4/21; 4/28) at 9:00 am-9:30 am Pacific, 10:00 am Mountain, 11:00 am Central, and noon Eastern
- Wednesdays (4/15; 4/22; 4/29) at 1:00 pm-1:30 pm Pacific, 2:00 pm Mountain, 3:00 pm Central, and 4:00 pm Eastern
That’s 15 chances to ask us a question!
To participate,
click on the link to this zoom meeting at the designated time above. Because we’ve added extra security, send us an email to
educ...@usanpn.org to let us know you are joining and we’ll know to expect you. You are also welcome to include any questions you have in that message for us to prepare an answer.
Also keep in mind there are several other places to find answers to your questions. Our
Local Phenology Leaders Forum is a good place to start.
We have Information on our HELP page including
Nature’s Notebook Nuggets that answer many of your phenophase questions. And the
How to Observe Guidelines and Handbook is a great place to start for backyard observing. You will also find details in the
Local Phenology Program Guide and a new
curated playlist of videos on our USA-NPN YouTube Page linked from the
Local Phenology Program Page. The playlist includes the recording of the
Nature’s Notebook Crash Course I did last week.
In the midst of all of this we hope you are able to find a new rhythm. Hopefully spending time outside and recording some observations will offer some structure to you and your community members.
Looking forward to seeing you soon during one of these office hours time slots! In the meantime, be well!
Best,
La and Sara
