Hi All,

I am a graduate student working with Minnesota Landscape Arboretum to pull together training materials for a volunteer phenology project.  I was hoping someone might have already put together a photo guide for species of Populus (poplars or aspens).  If anyone has a photo guide, or images of the Populus  phenophases that you're willing to share, please let me know.

I appreciate any help you can provide!

Thanks,

Hi AllI,

I have phenophase images of Black Cottonwood on the Oregon Season Tracker website, you can see them here  https://extension.oregonstate.edu/gallery/black-cottonwood-populus-balsamifera .  If those work for you I could email you higher quality images.

I’ve also been working on finding images for Quaking aspen.  I don’t have them up on our website yet but those images I was able to find on https://www.forestryimages.org/  This Bugwood site is a great resource of forestry related images that are free use as long as you credit them.

If it helps, I have a guide for eastern cottonwood (Populus deltoides). Let me know if you'd like me to send it to you.
