The Ecosystem Management Coordination staff is excited to announce another round of Participatory Science (formerly CitSci) Funding for FY24. This Request for Proposals (RFP) seeks collaboratively designed projects using participatory science to meet resource information needs. The competition is open to all Forest Service units along with their partners. This year, we have $100,000 available with a $20,000 cap per proposal. Since 2017, we have received over 400 proposals, and distributed more than $750,000 to support 41 projects across all regions and stations. With so many Forest Service priorities calling for more science-based actions and public engagement; participatory science, crowdsourcing, and multi-party monitoring efforts are uniquely situated to address information needs and management uncertainties, while building stronger relationships with the publics we serve. We look forward to receiving your proposals by February 26th. Please see the attached for more details and share widely.
