Since Sunday, a male red-bellied woodpecker has been joining the hairies and downies under the seed feeders while spending most of the time working on the pygmy oak beside the feeders.

For the past 3 winters we've had one here, north of Perth Road
Village. Last week I saw both male and feeders at the same time. I
ran out of suet a few days ago, haven't seen them today, but they'll
be back. I don't see them in summer when I'm not feeding the birds,
but as soon as the suet blocks are up, they appear. Such a lovely
bird, I love the zebra pattern on their back.
