This fall we seen hardly any of these -

- the Oyster Mushroom that we call "Manitoba Maple Knothole Mushroom,"
though the formal name is "Elm Oyster." Each October we're constantly
scanning distant Manitoba Maples for the telltale white spots, often
quite high on trunks and branches, and this fall we've seen only two:
one on one of the Manitoba Maples at the Oxford Mills dam, and some
twisted caps tucked inside a knothole on one of our trees.
These are our primary edible mushroom, so I don't know if others would
notice their absence, but I wonder anyway...
