I am reaching out to invite you to join the Rideau Valley Phragmites Management Area (RVPMA) Working Group.
The purpose of this working group is to develop a collaborative, regional approach to mapping and managing invasive phragmites- Canada’s worst invasive species.
What’s involved
A Phragmites Management Area (PMA) Working Group is a group of diverse stakeholders (municipalities, Indigenous groups, landowners, conservationists) collaborating to address invasive Phragmites by sharing information, mapping locations, promoting best practices, developing regional strategies, educating the public, and coordinating actions across boundaries for management initiatives. For more information on PMAs, have a look at the Ontario Phragmites Management Regional Plan Guidebook: 2025 edition.
