14 April 2025 - Canada: Ontario: Grenville County: Oxford-on-Rideau:
Bishops Mills:4 & 6 St Lawrence St. (Schuelers). (100m ard homesite),
31B/13, 44.87156° N 75.70095° W TIME: 2007-2012. AIR TEMP: 10°C,
overcast, calm. HABITAT: rural village, shallow soil limestone plain.
OBSERVER: Frederick W. Schueler. 2025/069/ba, Turdus migratorius (Robin)
lots of calling & some singing, fading through interval. NO:Anura
calling audible.

Branta canadensis (Canada Goose) clamour from E & elsewhere.

Scolopax minor (Woodcock) fightsong twittering E of County Road 18 & W
of houses, no peenting.

Gallinago gallinago (Snipe) 1 bout of flightsong winnowing.

Grus canadensis (Sandhill Crane) 1 bout of honking calls.

* in Bishops Mills we see or hear Sandhill Cranes about once per year,
but this is the first time I've heard them in the dark. I checked the
Cornell website to be sure of my identification. The Snipe was also the
first I've heard this year.
