Hello,

I have a web application which requires fairly CPU-intensive
computations. Currently I address my needs by providing a custom
browser plugin, but NaCl seems like a superior approach in the long
run. Unfortunately my application requires access to USB cameras. Do
any developers care to comment on what sort of time frame (if any)
webcam support will be added?

Thanks for the info!

I think webcam support is something we would ultimately like to provide as part of the PPAPI layer that's being built in to chrome and exposed via NaCl (along with audio input, which also doesn't exist yet).  But there is no specific date attached to it, and there are many higher-priority tasks we're still working on.  PPAPI and NaCl are open-source, so if you have an interest, we would welcome help getting webcam support.

Also note that the Pepper API and NaCl track the HTML5 spec work going on in this area.  http://dev.w3.org/2009/dap/camera/ and http://www.w3.org/TR/2010/WD-html-media-capture-20100928/

When the spec is finalized, an implementation will surely follow.
