New Delhi  30 January 2024: The Rann Utsav Dhordo, introduced in Kutch by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during his tenure as the Chief Minister of the state, has become a pivotal force for advancing social, economic, and environmental development in rural Kutch. The Rann Utsav, launched in Dhordo in 2006 under the guidance of PM Shri Narendra Modi, quickly gained international recognition, propelling Dhordo onto the global tourism map. This achievement was highlighted when the United Nations World Tourism Organization bestowed the prestigious 'World Best Tourism Village' award upon Dhordo in 2023, solidifying its place among the world's top tourism destinations.

The state government, led by Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, showcased a tableau themed around the 'Dhordo World Tourism Village-UNWTO', the pride of Gujarat, during the 75th Republic Day National Parade at Kartavya Path in New Delhi.

The exquisite tableau, showcased by the Government of Gujarat alongside various presentations from states on the Kartavya Path, achieved the top position in the People's Choice Awards category across the nation. This impressive display of tableaus was held in the esteemed presence of the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and President of France Shri Emmanuel Macron during the national-level celebration and parade commemorating the 75th Republic Day in New Delhi.

Each year, states, Union Territories, and ministries from across the country participate in the Republic Day National Parade by showcasing their unique tableaus. In the 2024 parade, a total of 25 tableaus were exhibited, reflecting the collective spirit and achievements of the nation.

In this tableau overview, Gujarat's tableau has once again secured the top spot in the People's Choice category for the second consecutive year. Additionally, it has earned the second position in the Jury's Choice of the Selection Committee for Tableau Excellence.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, the commendable endeavours have once again propelled Gujarat to the forefront, reinforcing the tradition of excellence set forth by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This victory marks yet another success in the state's ongoing commitment to excellence.

The Gujarat tableau beautifully showcased the unique 'Bhunga' of Kutch, Rann Utsav, the Tent City, and various handicrafts from the region, all while spotlighting the progress of the digital revolution in rural sectors. Alongside the tableau, the presentation of Gujarat's Bhatigal garba, recently acknowledged by UNESCO as 'Intangible Cultural Heritage', was truly spectacular.

The Garba performed alongside the tableau featured music composed by Kutchi singer Shri Diwaliben Ahir, who also lent her voice to the composition. As a result, the tableau became the focal point of attention in this year's Republic Day parade.

Gujarat's tableau has also clinched the top spot as the people's preferred choice, securing an impressive 32 per cent of the total votes nationwide, reaffirming Gujarat's position as the leading recipient of the People's Choice Award for the second consecutive year.

It is noteworthy to mention that Since 2022, the Ministry of Defense of the Government of India has initiated the "People's Choice Award" through the "My Gov platform" to identify the best troops from the military units participating in the parade and the finest tableau from the cultural representations presented by states. This process involves online voting conducted among citizens.

As such, the online voting process for this year, conducted from January 26 to 28, 2024, garnered the highest number of votes, accounting for 32 per cent of the total, in favour of Gujarat's Tableau. Once again, Gujarat's Tableau has secured the leading position in the People's Choice Award category for the second consecutive year. Similarly, in the previous year, Gujarat's Tableau claimed the top spot in the People's Choice Awards.

Also, Gujarat's Tableau has earned the honour of being the second choice of the award selection committee jury. Following Gujarat's tableau being recognized by the jury in 2008, once again, Gujarat's tableau featured in the Republic Day National Parade of 2024 secured the second position in the jury's selection.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel conveyed gratitude to everyone for their contribution to the victory of Gujarat's tableau, stating that this achievement is a collective win for every citizen of Gujarat, including those from Kutch. The CM hailed it as a remarkable feat in the fields of tourism and cultural heritage.
