Dear Friends,

Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Himachal Pradesh Election Watch have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 58 re-contesting MLAs in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Election 2022. Out of the 58 re-contesting MLAs, assets of 49 MLAs (84%) have increased ranging from 5% to 1167% and assets of 9 MLAs (16%) have decreased ranging from -4% to -37%.

  • Average Assets in 2017 Elections: The average assets of these 58 re-contesting MLAs fielded by various parties including independents in 2017 was Rs 9.30 Crores.
  • Average Assets in 2022 Elections: The average asset of these 58 re-contesting MLAs in 2022 is Rs 12.08 Crores.
  • Average Asset growth in 5 years (2017-2022): The average asset growth for these 58 re- contesting MLAs, between the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections of 2017 and 2022 is Rs 2.77 Crores.
  • Percentage growth in 5 years (2017-2022): Average percentage growth in assets for these 58 re-contesting MLAs is 30%.

Top 5 Re-contesting MLAs with highest asset increase (Rupees- wise)


  • Balbir Singh Verma of BJP from Chopal constituency has declared maximum increase in assets with an increase of Rs 37.71 Crores i.e from Rs 90.73 Crores in 2017 to Rs. 128.45 Crores in 2022.
  • Assets of Anil Sharma of BJP from Mandi constituency has increased by Rs 17.23 Crores, from Rs 40.24 Crores in 2017 to Rs 57.48 Crores in 2022.
  • Assets of Vikramaditya Singh of INC from Shimla Rural constituency have risen by Rs 17.06 Crores, from Rs 84.32 Crores in 2017 to Rs 101.39 Crores in 2022.
