Dear Friends,

Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Manipur Election Watch (MEW) had filed RTIs to the Manipur Assembly Secretariat asking for the information pertaining to the performance of the MLAs and the Legislative Assembly. This report has been generated from the information received up to August 2021. Whereas from 2017 to 2020 the report covers the complete calendar years, for the year 2021 the report covers data available from January to August 2021.

There are 60 seats in Manipur Assembly, however this report also includes the analysis for the MLAs who have resigned or got elected through bye-elections.

Analysis of Number of Sittings in Each Session of Manipur Legislative Assembly

  • On an average, Manipur State Assembly sat for 17 days per year.
  • The longest session was the 4th session, from 2nd February, 2018 to 23rd February, 2018. It had 15 sittings.

  • The highest number of hours contributed for assembly sittings were 101.39 hours in 2017 where assembly had 23 sittings.
  • The lowest number of hours contributed for assembly sittings were 67.49 hours in 2020 where assembly had 12 sittings.

Analysis of Bills Tabled and Bills Passed in Manipur Legislative Assembly
  • There were a total of 63 Bills tabled in the 11th Manipur Assembly.
  • Out of these 63 Bills, 61(97%) Bills were passed.
