Dear Friends,

Association for Democratic Reforms and Haryana Election Watch have analysed the vote share for all 90 constituencies in the Haryana Assembly Elections, 2024. The voter’s turnout in the Haryana Assembly elections 2024 and 2019 was 68%.


The Haryana Assembly election result was declared on 8th October 2024.

Voter Turnout

Vote Share of Winners

  • The winners of the Haryana State Assembly elections, 2024 won by an average of 48 % of total votes polled. In the 2019 elections winners won by an average of 44% of total votes polled.

  • 40(44%) winners won with 50% and above of the total votes polled in their constituency.
  • 50(56%) winners won with less than 50% of the total votes polled in their constituency.
  • 11(92%) out of 12 winners with declared criminal cases have won with a vote share of 50% and above.
  • 29 (37%) out of 78 winners with clean backgrounds have won with a vote share of 50% and above.
  • 37(43%) out of 86 crorepati winners analysed have won with a vote share of 50% and above.
  • 3(75%) out of 4 non-crorepati winners have won with a vote share of 50% and above.
Representativeness of Winners
  • All the winners of the Haryana State Assembly Elections, 2024 won with an average of 33% of the total registered voters. This implies that the winners represent on an average, 33% of the total electorate. In the Haryana State Assembly Elections, 2019, winners won by an average of 30% of the total registered votes.

Margin of Victory
  • 3 winners have won with margin of victory of less than 1000 votes.
  • 3 winners have won with more than 30% margin of victory.

Winners with Declared Criminal Cases and their Margin of Victory

  • 11 out of 12 winners with declared criminal cases have won against a runner up with a clean background.
  • Among these 11 winners, 3 winners have won with more than 25% margin of victory.
  • Among these, Mamman Khan (INC) from Ferozepur Jhirka constituency won with 54% margin of victory.
Winners with clean background and their Margin of Victory
  • 14 out of 78 winners with clean backgrounds have won against a runner up with declared criminal cases.
  • Among these 14 winners, only Rao Narbir Singh (BJP) from Badshahpur constituency has won with 22% margin of victory.
Crorepati Winners and their Margin of Victory
  • 3 out of 86 crorepati winners have won against a non-crorepati runners up.
  • Among these 3 winners, only Mohd Israil (INC) from Hathin constituency has won with 17% margin of victory. 
Non-crorepati Winners and their Margin of Victory
  • 3 out of 4 non-crorepati winners have won against crorepati runners up.
  • Among these 3 winners, only Devender Hans (INC) from Guhla constituency has won with 17% margin of victory. 
Performance of Women Winners
  • Among the 90 winners, 13 are women.
  • All of them won with 30% and above of vote share in their constituencies.
  • Among the women winners, Bimla Chaudhary (BJP) from Pataudi Constituency has won with the highest vote share, i.e. 62% in her constituency. She has won with 39% representativeness and 29% margin of victory.
Performance of Re-elected Winners
  • Out of total 30 re-elected winners, none have won with less than 30% of vote share in their respective constituency. 12(40%) have won with more than 50% of vote share.
  • 8(27%) re-elected winners have won with less than 10% margin of victory whereas 8 have won with more than 20% margin of victory.
NOTA
  • The NOTA button instated by the ECI in 2013 gave the voters an option of rejecting all the candidates in their constituency. Out of 1,38,91,280 votes polled in Haryana Assembly Elections, 2024, 53,300 (0.38%) were polled for NOTA.
