Dear Friends,

Association for Democratic Reforms and Kerala Election Watch have analysed the vote share for all 140 constituencies in the Kerala Assembly Elections, 2026. The voter’s turnout for the Kerala assembly elections 2026 was 79.4% whereas voter’s turnout in 2021 assembly elections was 77.9%.

The Kerala Assembly election result was declared on 4th May 2026.

Vote Share of Winners:

  • The winners of the Kerala State Assembly elections, 2026 won by an average of 48.62 % of total votes polled. In the 2021 elections winners won by an average of 47.98% of total votes polled.

  • 54(39%) winners won with 50% and above of the total votes polled in their constituency.
  • 86(61%) winners won with less than 50% of the total votes polled in their constituency.
  • 50(42%) out of 119 winners with declared criminal cases have won with a vote share of 50% and above.
  • 4(19%) out of 21 winners with clean backgrounds have won with a vote share of 50% and above.
  • 42(43%) out of 97 crorepati winners analysed have won with a vote share of 50% and above.
  • 12(28%) out of 43 non-crorepati winners have won with a vote share of 50% and above.
Representativeness of Winners:
  • All the winners of the Kerala State Assembly Elections, 2026 won with an average of 38.61% of the total registered voters. This implies that the winners represent on an average, 38.61% of the total electorate. In the Kerala State Assembly Elections, 2021 won by an average of 37.40% of the total registered votes.
Margin of Victory:
  • 3 winners have won with a margin of victory of less than 1000 votes.
  • 7 winners have won with more than 30% margin of victory. 
Winners with Declared Criminal Cases and their Margin of Victory:

  • 52 out of 119 winners with declared criminal cases have won against a runner up with a clean background.
  • Among these 52 winners, 4 winners have won with more than 30% margin of victory.
  • Among these, P.K Kunhalikutty (IUML) from Malappuram constituency won with 43.34% margin of victory. 

Winners with clean background and their Margin of Victory:
  • 12 out of 21 winners with clean backgrounds have won against a runner up with declared criminal cases.
  • Among these 12 winners, 1 winner has won with more than 15% margin of victory.
  •  Among these, U R Pradeep (CPI(M)) from Chelakkara constituency won with 18.01% margin of victory. 
Crorepati Winners and their Margin of Victory:
  • 26 out of 97 crorepati winners have won against a non-crorepati runners up.
  • Among these 26 winners, 7 winners have won with more than 25% margin of victory.
  • Among these, P.K Kunhalikutty (IUML) from Malappuram constituency won with 43.34% margin of victory. 
Non-crorepati Winners and their Margin of Victory:
  • 30 out of 43 non-crorepati winners have won against crorepati runners up.
  • Among these 30 winners, 1 winner has won with more than 25% margin of victory.
  • Among these, Adv. Chandy Oommen (INC) from Puthuppally constituency won with 41.28% margin of victory. 
Performance of  Women Winners:
  • Among the 140 winners, 11 are women.
  • All of them won with 37% and above of vote share in their constituencies.
  • Among the women winners, Uma Thomas (INC) from Thrikkakara constituency has won with the highest vote share, i.e. 59.35% in her constituency. She has won with 47.25% representativeness and 35.74% margin of victory. 

Performance of Re-elected Winners:
  • Out of total 55 re-elected winners, none have won with less than 37% of vote share in their respective constituencies. 25(45%) have won with more than 50% of vote share.
  • 18(33%) re-elected winners have won with less than 10% margin of victory whereas 2 have won with more than 40% margin of victory.

NOTA:
  • The NOTA button instated by the ECI in 2013 gave the voters an option of rejecting all the candidates in their constituency. Out of 2,15,95,055votes polled in 2026 Kerala Assembly Elections, 1,23,067 (0.57%) were polled for NOTA.
