Dear Friends,

Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Goa Election Watch have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 37 re-contesting MLAs in the Goa Assembly Election 2022. Out of the 37 re-contesting MLAs, assets of 35 MLAs (95%) have increased ranging from 2% to 236%

  • Average Assets in 2017 Elections: The average assets of these 37 re-contesting MLAs fielded by various parties including independents in 2017 was Rs 10.24 Crores.
  • Average Assets in 2022 Elections: The average asset of these 37 re-contesting MLAs in 2022 is Rs 16.77 Crores.
  • Average Asset growth in 5 years (2017-2022): The average asset growth for these 37 re- contesting MLAs, between the Goa Assembly Elections of 2017 and 2022 is Rs 6.53 Crores.
  • Percentage growth in 5 years (2017-2022): Average percentage growth in assets for these 37 re-contesting MLAs is 64%.

Top 5 Re-contesting MLAs with highest asset increase (Rupees- wise)


  • Michael Vincent Lobo of INC from Calangute constituency has declared maximum increase in assets with an increase of Rs 38.31 Crores i.e from Rs 54.59 Crores in 2017 to Rs. 92.91 Crores in 2022.
  • Assets of Atanasio Monserrate of BJP from Panaji constituency has increased by Rs 26.87 Crores, from Rs 21.61 Crores in 2017 to Rs 48.48 Crores in 2022.
  • Assets of Vijai Sardesai of Goa Forward Party from Fatorda constituency have risen by Rs 22.40 Crores, from Rs 14.75 Crores in 2017 to Rs 37.16 Crores in 2022.
