Dear Friends,

Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Bihar Election Watch had filed RTI applications to the Bihar Assembly Secretariat asking for the information pertaining to the performance of the MLAs and the Legislative Assembly. This report is based on information available on the website of Bihar Legislative Assembly and from the RTI responses received from Bihar Assembly Secretariat.

There are 243 seats in Bihar Assembly, however this report also includes the analysis for the MLAs who have resigned or got elected through bye-elections.

Analysis of Sessions and Number of Sittings in the 17th Bihar Assembly

The 17th Bihar Assembly held 15 sessions between November 2020 and July 2025, with a total of 146 sittings during this period.

Over these five years, the Bihar Assembly sat for an average of 29 days per year.

The longest sessions were the 2nd and 5th sessions, each having 22 sittings.

Analysis of Number of Questions asked by MLAs in Bihar Legislative Assembly

251 MLAs asked a total of 22505 questions.

Analysis of Bills Tabled and Bills Passed in Bihar Legislative Assembly

Out of 99 bills introduced in the 17^th Bihar Assembly, all 99(100%) Bills were passed.

All these Bills were passed on the same day as of their introduction.
