Dear Friends,

Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Maharashtra Election Watch have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of all 42 Ministers including Chief Minister from Maharashtra State Assembly Elections 2024.

The information is based on the affidavits submitted by the ministers prior to 2024 Maharashtra Assembly Elections and Maharashtra legislative council elections.

  • Ministers with Criminal Cases: Out of the 42 ministers analysed, 26 (62%) ministers have declared criminal cases against themselves.

  • Ministers with cases related to Crime against Women: One minister namely Nitesh Narayan Rane of BJP from Kankavli has declared a case related to crime against women (IPC Section-509).

  • Crorepati Ministers: Out of the 42 ministers analysed, all 42 (100%) are crorepatis.
  • Average Assets: The average assets of 42 ministers analysed is Rs 47.65 crores.
  • Minister with Highest Assets: The minister with the highest declared total assets is Mangal Prabhat Lodha from Malabar Hill constituency with assets worth Rs. 447.09 crores.
  • Minister with Lowest Assets: The minister with the lowest declared total assets is Abitkar Prakash Anandrao from Radhanagari constituency with assets worth Rs. 1.60 crores.
  • Liabilities: 39 ministers have declared liabilities out of which the minister with the highest liabilities is Mangal Prabhat Lodha of Malabar Hill constituency with Rs. 306.22 crores of liabilities.

  • Ministers’ Education:  13 (31%) Ministers have declared their educational qualification to be between 8th and 12th standard while 25 (60%) Ministers have declared having an educational qualification of graduate and above. 4 ministers are Diploma holders.
